Course Description: Biology: The Dynamics of Life
is a course in biology that follows an
evolutionary history approach in its organization. This approach allows
you to explain the
diversity of life forms in depth while revealing their relationships
and fundamental unity in
form and function.
Course Objective: Students in this course will be
taught six major themes. The themes
include unity within diversity, evolution, energy, homeostasis, systems
and interactions,
and the nature of science.
Course Requirements: To gain credits for biology
CP the student must maintain a combined
weighted average of 70 or above in tests, labs, homework, quizzes,
and participation.
Criteria for Assessing Student Performance:
Tests 40 % Chapter Tests , Science Fair
Labs 15 % Complete lab, clean up, & submit lab report
Homework 15% Study guides, concept maps, reinforcement sheets
Quizzes 15% Announced and pop quizzes
Participation 15% Come prepared, follow the rules, & get involved
