This course is designed to present an over-view of the building trades with emphasis on carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical occupations. The student will develop entry level skills in the four areas of building trades while becoming familiar with safety, hand tools, power tools, and equipment. These entry level skills will enable the student to seek out job opportunities. Upon successful completion of this course, the teacher may recommend a student move to another speciality shop such as Carpentry or Heating/ Cooling/ Plumbing/ Electricity. Generic as well as specific social skills required of workers in these occupations will be identified along with the integration of academics and vocational education to make learning more relevant and meaningful.
