Course Description: Technology training in this specialty
trade prepares the student for employment in the broadcasting, writing,
publication, art, and entertainment industries. More specifically,
graduates from this program can advance to higher education or enter
employment in the fields of television production, television broadcasting,
audio production, journalism and computer graphics applications.
Course Objective: Students in this course will be
taught broadcast technology and promotional production skills necessary
for entry level employment in the related industries and for advancement
to higher education.
Course Requirements: Occupational requirements are
met through state of the art hands-on activities, combined with the
necessary theory and employment skills. Included will be the related
math, applied science and English necessary for success in these trade
areas. Course activities and projects required for successful completion
of the course include production projects, tests, technical writing,
portfolio development, Midterm Exam and a Final Exam.
Criteria for Assessing Student Performance:
Participation 20% time on task, work ethic
Written Project 30% scripts, reports, research
Hands On 40% all production activities
Tests 10% tests (excluding midterm and final exams**)
**Note: Mid-term and Final Exams are weighted as their own category
on the report card
