Course Description: The Early Childhood Development
Technology prepares students for a career in many areas of Early Childhood.
Students learn about the physical, intellectual, social and emotional
characteristics of young children plus techniques for guiding children
and creating a safe, healthy learning environment. Students develop
and prepare classroom lesson plans and learning experiences while
working with the preschool children enrolled at our center. Students
prepare for the Child Development Credential after graduation .
ACCC will award 6 tech prep credits for successful completion.
Course Objective: Students in this course will be
taught how to prepare for a career in the Early Childhood field and
for advancement to higher education.
Course Requirements: Occupational requirements are
met through hands –on activities combined with the necessary
theory and employment skills. Course activities and projects required
for successful completion of Level 1 include tests, portfolio development,
four technical writing papers, Midterm Exam and a Final Exam.
Criteria for Assessing Student Performance:
Weekly Participation 25% time on task, work ethic
Tests 25% tests (excluding midterm and final exams**)
Written Projects 10% lesson plans, journals and reports
Project List 20% all practical activities
Homework 20% must be handed in on time
** Note: Mid-term and Final Exams are weighted as their own category
on the report card
