Course Description: AMERICAN LITERATURE
Emphasis is on students' identification, comprehension, and interpretation
of chronologically or
thematically presented genres including, but not limited to, essays,
sermons, historical documents,
speeches, short stories, poems, dramatic pieces and novels. In addition,
the course covers writing
and SAT vocabulary as well as HSPA preparation. Students complete
and present multimedia
research projects.
Course Objective: English 11 CP is designed to instruct
students in an overview of American literature
from a chronological and thematic perspective.
Course Requirements: Students must complete all assigned
work AND maintain passing average to
pass course. Assigned work includes, but is not limited to, summer
reading, daily journal, eight
SSR’s, written assignments, tests, vocabulary units, multimedia
research projects and presentations.
