The
Travel, Tourism and Marketing Program follows a curriculum developed
through an affiliation with the National Academy Foundation (NAF)
sponsored by Marriott Corporation, American Express and CitiBank.
These highly successful corporate businesses understand the importance
of the education and development of the future workforce.
With an eight-unit motel for a classroom, students learn the basics
of the hospitality industry with specific training in front desk
operations, security, housekeeping, finance, marketing and event
planning. The students apply classroom experiences with the hands
on operation of the motel on a daily basis.
These lessons are combined with exciting field trips to historic
sites, convention centers, casino hotels, cruise ships and amusement
parks that provide insights into the various facets of the travel,
tourism and marketing industry. Students have the opportunity to
meet and talk with industry professionals about job descriptions
and careers in today’s hospitality environment. An Advisory
Board, active members of the business community of Cape May and
Atlantic counties, helps support field trips, serves as guest speakers
and helps ensure the up to date content of the program.
Students who successfully complete this class earn college credits
that can be applied to Atlantic Cape Community College or Johnson
and Wales College, giving them a head start on college and saving
money on tuition.
