Classroom and field work are included in the curriculum. Class projects include
construction of commercial fishing gear, net making and mending, dissections,
aquarium maintenance and laboratory techniques.
Students operate a fish
market and hard and soft shell crab fishery. They participate in an
osprey nesting and handling project. Field work consists of small boat
handling duties, commercial fishing, aquaculture projects, ecology studies,
and marine studies.
A Tech Prep agreement with Cumberland County College
allows students to earn college credits while in high school. Students
are prepared for entry level jobs in fisheries, fish markets, water
treatment and environmental operations or futher education in marine
biology.
