Course Description: This course is designed to give
students entry level skills in Small Engines and Marine Mechanics
Technology . These skills are generally used in the operation of a
small engine/marine mechanic when employed in the title classification
according to the guide to Labor Repair Demand Occupations in NJ CIP
# 47.0606 and CIP# 47.0616
Course Objective: Students will gain experience with
shop safety , hand tools , two and four cycle operation , small engine
disassembly and rebuilding , troubleshooting , oxy-acetylene and electric
arc welding.
Course Requirements: The successful completion of
level 1 and level 2 , complete a graduation project and demonstrate
critical thinking , decision-making and proble-solving skills using
technology , complete mid-term and final exams , complete practical
application assignments.
Criteria for Assessing Student Performance:
25% Participation , work ethic , time on task
50% Competencies mastery level in hands-on performance
25% Test , quizzes and written journals
