US History 2 College Prep Syllabus
Course Description: The goal of United States History
II is to trace the development of United States History from the
Spanish-American War through the present.
Course Objective: Students in this course will
be taught about Converging Cultures in America, Expansion, World
War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, the Counter Culture,
Watergate, the Economic Problems of the 1970s, the Reagan Revolution,
the Collapse of Communism, and the New Century.
Course Requirements: Students will need to complete
all assigned homework, projects and be successful on all quizzes
and exams. We speak about current events daily and weekly there
is a current event assignment to be turned in every Friday. Students
will also be given projects to complete independently, as well as
group projects in class. There will be a mid-term exam in January
and a final in June.
Criteria for Assessing Student Performance:
Homework: Each worth 10 points: Questions, handouts or vocabulary.
Quizzes: Each worth 10 points: Ten question quizzes on the section
the students are working on.
Exams: Each worth 100 points. An exam is given after the completion
of each chapter.
Projects: Each worth 100 points. There will be a project for each
marking period.
Current Events: Each worth 50 points. Newspapers or periodicals.
