Allied Medical program is a three-year program designed for students who display an interest in the health care field. This program offers a carefully sequenced composite of college-level course work maximizing the availability of college credits for students on a tuition-free basis. The following courses are available:

Dynamics of Health Care in Society
An orientation to health care and delivery, from an interdisciplinary perspective, with a focus on process skills to include critical thinking, ethical reasoning, effective communication and self-directed learning abilities.

Medical Terminology
The study of words that pertain to body systems, anatomy, physiology, medical processes, procedures and a variety of diseases. It provides specialized language for the health care team, enabling health care worker's to communicate in an accurate, articulate and concise manner. (This course is designed to give students a comprehensive knowledge of word construction, definition, functions of health and disease and use of language in precessing medical/dental records and claim forms.)

Anatomy and Physiology
The study of the structure and the function of the human body.

Emergency and Clinical Care
A course that describes how to respond to emergencies before medical help arrives.

Scientific Principles of Nutrition
Outlines the relationship of diet, lifestyle and the prevention of disease. An overview of the digestion, absorption and metabolism of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals is provided. The overall purpose is to allow the students to earn college credits and receive practical health care practitioner skills, while keeping multiple health career options open. This is achieved through academic, clinical and community service opportunities.

In addition to the academic and clinical challenges, the students will also participate in community projects. Students will be encouraged to develop, plan and implement these projects thereby increasing their exposure to the rewards of community service.
